It needs to be checked out by a vet and hopefully it can be treated.

Pain in the cat's mouth can cause him to stop eating and that is very serious. I have a cat now with cancer in his jaw and I know when it is too painful for him to continue eating that I will have to euthanize him.

Your friends cat probably has an absess. Tigger will most likely need vet attention to extract the tooth. Your friend should not wait as it is very painful for the cat.

The cat needs to go see a vet. Untreated mouth infections can lead to heart problems. You'd go see a dentist if something was wrong with your mouth, right? Good luck!

Go to the vet. Get pet insurance if you don't already have it. Then the vet will probably recommend dental surgery.
