You can BUT the thing is if they start biting on that, it could be a problem if digested. I don't think it's common but why take the risk?

No, they will chew on the jug and ingest parts of it. That will more than likely kill them. It is best to stick with the plain old wood nest box.

Yes you can, you can also put paper "shreddings" for their nesting material. Good job.
As long as you cut the jug in half, right? leave the bottom part for the nesting, and take the other half out:)

Sure. If they will use it. Most of the time, they like dark boxy like places like the box bird boxes at the pet stores.
