Keep his bedroom door shut. Don't do his laundry & nag after him if he leaves dirty dishes around.....or leave his dishes dirty & keep clean ones hidden for the rest of you.

I've got a 23 year old at home as well but can't complain too much as he's in school. He can't wait to leave home so I know that as soon as he graduates I'll have my house back....although soon after that my daughter will be finished university and will probably move back home to find work.....will it ever end ??????

Your house. Your rules. Make a list of expectations and if he does not follow them then he needs to move out. He is an adult now and you need to stop treating him like a child. In some sense you need to look at him as a renter and treat him as such. As long as mom and dad is going to pick up after him and cook him food he is going to allow you to do so. As long as you do it for your grown child you really have no right to complain.

Good luck!

When asked about marriage, a little girl quoted, "Boys should get married because they need someone to clean up after them."
I couldn't help but laugh at her answer, it does hold truth hey.

do what my mother did to me. the day i turned 18 i had to start paying her rent. it was $100.00 a month if i cleaned my room and contributed to the house work duties. if i did not then it was $200.00. i kept my room clean, helped around the house, and it taught me to be more responsible.
