It is very graphic and it is a personal thing for you to decide. I think that it is of utter importance that you first discuss the movie with your son, discuss what he is about to see, then if he is willing let him watch it, only to be stopped if it becomes to overbearing. Dont force it upon him, because in the future, when he is old enough to truly comprehend the magnitude of the movie, he can watch it, and come to his own conclusions.
God bless you and your son always.

hobby performs (plural) have been elementary interior the middle a while, and because few human beings spoke Latin, the language of the Bible, they have been usually decorated which incorporate factors from hymns and classic ideals. Even after the interpretation of the Bible into elementary language, that they had non-Biblical factors extra in them. the main properly ordinary version is the Oberammergau hobby Play, which replace into particularly antisemitic. It has in view that been edited to be much less so. It lasts 7 hours which incorporate a lunch smash. i've got no longer considered Mel Gibson's action picture, yet whilst it contains classic factors from hobby performs, it rather is the place a number of the antisemitism ought to come from.

Please be aware that "the Passion" is both overly graphic (almost to the point of a homoerotic snuff film) and *not* based on the bible, but on one nun's visions.

If your Christian group of choice differs from that nun's, I do not recommend subjecting your child to this gorefest.

But, I highly doubt anyone here can make your mind up about it.

Do bear in mind, however, that many of the ex-Christian atheists here list "why would a good god allow cruelty in the world" amongst the first questions that led them away from Christianity- you might not want to expose your son to the idea of god as a sadist just yet.

Have you seen the movie? I think if you know your son's maturity level, and you have seen the movie you should be able to make a fair desicion. Some 11 year olds are way more mature than others. That movie is pretty graphic, but very moving to believers.

well it is a true story and it did happen but I will tell you it was pretty bloody. If you don't mind him seeing excessive violence than go for it. If you don't want him to see a lot of violence then definitely not. I personally don't think Jesus got beat that many times myself but who knows under Jewish law a person can only take 39 lashes before dying in the movie he got a lot more than that but he wasn't crucified under Jewish Law either Roman law was much harsher. I personally think he got 39 lashes. but the whole movie is pretty much about his beating. Very very violent

James 777,

If you allow your son to see that film, you will be encouraging him to sin. You have already broken God's law by viewing the film yourself. See Exodus 20:4-7. The acor playing "Jesus" is just a 3-dimensional image of God.

Not only is that film cuaing many people to sin, but it is also giving a false understanding of the atonement. The catof nine tails, thae crown of thorns, the nails.....had nothing to do with our slavation. Jesus had to suffer the equivalent of spending eternity in hell to pay for the sins of those He was going to save. That is why in the Garden of Gethsemane, He is throwing Himself to the ground and crying, Abba Father, if be possible let this cup pass from me; but not my will but thine be done. Jesus drnak the full cup of God's wrath for His sheep.

As a mother of 4 (youngest 15, oldest 18) I recommend you show him something else instead. How about Visual Bible International's "The Gospel of John"? It's a word-for-word depiction of the most beloved Gospel. Bonus: Jesus is portrayed by Henry Ian Cusick from "Lost."

The film is very, very good.

My son is 12, and I haven't let him see it yet either. I think they probably could handle it, they see worse on tv, but the thing is, they know movies are fake, but this is about Jesus, which makes it personal. I really don't know why I haven't let him see it yet, I guess I figure if it upset me, then it would really upset him. Sorry, don't really have a good answer as I'm still trying to make the same decision.

too young for the reason you gave, Peters mental guilt trip after betrayal and well, visual Satan is just creepy...especially at the end with his defeated scream when Christ is risen. The stone rolling away all sunlit was my fave scene- then they had to add that in...
I'd keep him plugged in to the Bible for a bit longer. After seeing the movie I had nightmares for awhile- and I'm a grownup!
