i was wondering if instead of filing tax online and pay 50-70 dollars just for 1 person. I could buy from office depot a turbo tax and use it for me, my gf, my brother and my sister.

I have Turbo Tax'ed for several years...you can paper file as many returns as you want. You can only e-file 5 of them.

The problem that Bostonian, above mentioned was fixed the next year. After that catastrophe, they went back to the old way.

Read the license agreement in full when you install it!

Several years ago Turbo Tax casused themselves a lot of trouble by limiting an installation to one tax return and using a software activation system that forced you to pay for the software again if you tried to file multiple returns or even had to reinstall it due to a hardware failure. They got a ton of bad press over than and have probalby cancelled the activation system but you need to read the software license to determine if you can legally file multiple returns with one license.

According to Turbo Tax, you are allowed by IRS regulation to create and efile up to 5 returns off a single software license. Any more returns need to be filed by paper.

Also, according to them, the End User License allows you to install TT on any computer you own, home or business, allowing you to prepare returns for you and your immediate family.

From the looks of things, you're doing exactly that. File away.

Yes, you can Pool purchase the package. Get a bunch of people together and pool your money to buy the deluxe edition, as each does their taxes, they pass it on to the next until eveyone is done. Cuts the cost down to a few bucks each if you have enough people. You can also go on to H&R black web page and use their on line version of TaxCut. Its $9.99 for a federal return and state is an additional $24.99 so for $35 you can get it all done and not be left with a useless box of software when its all said and done.

yes, you can use it for more than 1 return.
There may be a limit, however, to how many returns you can efile, usually 5.
But you will have to pay additional for the efiles.
usually there is a rebate for the 1st one free.
