I don't really know much about what happened back then. I wasn't born when the first cases of AIDS were discovered.

Please enlighten me.

Oh sorry, I was 2 weeks old when the first cases were reported.

Regardless of who is being blamed the culture of blame requires there must be a scapegoat. Maybe it's time we picked a new group for a change. How about home-schoolers? They haven't had to catch blame recently.

It took a very long time for the stigma against homosexuals when it came to AIDS and its transmission to pass; and actually it still hasn't completely. I cannot remember hearing Jews blamed, but I do remember panic at donated blood because it never used to be screened for the virus and I also remember hearing it blamed on people who have sex outside of marriage or adulterers.

I was a teen when it was announced that the likes of Arthur Ashe who received it from a blood transfusion and Rock Hudson, who was a homosexual, had AIDS. There was panic because there was no education. I think in some segments of society education is still played down to promote other 'values' and that is a pity.

No one has ever blamed homosexuals for AIDS. I was in high school when it first started. Most people were just bewildered. No one blamed anyone. It took a few years before the truth came out on how prevalent it was in the homosexual community. If you suggest that anyone has been singled out for mistreatment, I really don't think that really happened. Gays speak out and HUFF AND PUFF sometimes, but generally society as a whole has not blamed them, but searched for a cure for all.

You weren't born in 1981? I feel so old......

No, Jews haven't been blamed for AIDS. Actually, I've seen statistics that show it's lower among religious Jews than any other population. However, homosexuality is growing in numbers among even the Orthodox, so this undoubtedly will change.

Just how old are you???

When did they stop blaming homosexuals?

Many still believe that homosexuals are the primary carriers and transmitters when this hasn't been true for some time.

*headthunks* Please.... PLEASE tell me no one honestly believes HIV/AIDS started because someone had sex with a monkey...

The SIV (simian immunodeficiency virus) jumped to humans from the consumption of undercooked green monkey (brains, I believe, can't recall if it was organ meet or brain tissue). Since the genomes involved are so similiar, and SIV (like HIV) is so capable of mutating, it was able to rapidly adapt to the new host in just a few viral generations.

aids was discovered in Africa or was it south America cause, dummies doing it with monkeys, or so they said. who will get blame...some says it was a government thing to get rid of certain people as far back as the 60s . it didn't get noticed as a disease until the late 70 early 80s . does this help you?

Homos will ALWAYS get the brunt of the blame for AIDS. Them and other sexually screwed up people. You can ultimately blame whoever it was that first had sex with that monkey in Africa.

And pray tell who gets the blame for cancer? Who gets the blame for Lupis? Who gets the blame for poor eye sight?

I don't think they ever stopped blaming homosexuals, but they did blame the Haitians, too.

Why even ask such nonsense? This is way out of line and you really need to educate yourself in a better way.
Sorry just find this question rather disturbing to answer.
Please nothing against you just your asking of this question.

Next time maybe think or be more sensitive to people's feeling before asking such questions.
