You should've yelled "Yeah I guess you could call me fat just because I have a BABY inside of me!" then if she doesnt say anything then just say "Yeah I bet you feel like a ***** now dont you" Sorry that happened to you. You're not fat, you're beautiful you have a baby inside you and I bet you are glowing. Oh and as for the hubby, make him sleep on the couch for teasing you.

That was mean and rude. Pregnancy is a beautiful thing. My husband used to tease me all the time but he NEVER called me fat. I know a girl at work who's about six months along. About a month ago, two of our managers(Male and female) were changing the registers and this girl was helping. The female told my coworker to move because she didn't want to hurt the baby. The male asked "What baby?" The female replied that my coworker is pregnant. He replied "well, no wonder you've been getting so fat." I'd look at your MIL and say "Pregnant women are supposed to get fat. We don't have a choice."

I think I'd have done the same as you! There is no point in raising your blood pressure any more than it probably is by responding to someone saying things like that! I suppose your mother in law is nice and slim and svelte? She is probably feeling a bit cocky about it!
I would definately just ignore comments like that and respond with grace and dignity! I know its difficult but it sounds like she is trying to get you to rise to the bait and I think you are better off not biting!
Good luck, both with your pregnancy and your MIL!

You did exactly right...rude people like that have no clue...your not fat during pregnancy, most of the weight you lose within a few months once you have the baby.
Whether she had a baby or not doesn't enter into it, she has to be over 35, and if she is that clueless about pregnancy you have to thank God for not letting her have any!

Iprobably would have said ... and you say that because youve never had the chance to have a baby yourself so you dont have any idea of how insensitive that sounded coming from Y O U . some people just suck. just be thankfull your baby shears no genes with that troll in law.

Wow, not to be mean but talk about the mother in law from hell! Honestly, I would just to my best to ignore her but I hate confrontation. I would have been extremely upset, offended, hurt, you name it I probably would have had that emotion.
If she keeps up with the little comments, I would just point blank tell her that they are rude and offensive and even though she may mean them in a joking manner that isn't how they are coming across and you would appreciate it if she would keep her opinion to herself.

I had a similar experience, but with my hubby's grandmother instead. We went to visit adn she warned me to keep my weight down. I responded with "weight the last thing I'm worried about right now". Then I changed the subject. Some people just like to feel like they are better than you.

You could try putting it on her and telling her that that is very rude and let her know that you are not "fat" but pregnant and that there is a difference. However I can relate my father remarried a woman when i was very young who has never had children of her own and is quite stunned and very rude at times.

When I was 6 months pregnant my father in law said that I was fat and should think about cutting down on my food intake. I told him to worry about his own fat *ss. My husband jumped his butt too. In-laws are jerks. It's like they have a sixth sense on how to p*ss you off. If I were you I would b*tch her *ss out.

Remember, pregnant women are allowed temper tantrums, and your mother-in-law and husband should both be more supportive. I personally treat expecting women with the highest of respect and dignity. After all, none of us would be here without one. I wish you the best.
