1) it isn't always, but yes, He has typically been represented as white, and even worse, in some paintings, as blond.
2) This is because we tend to make Him into our image. Since those movie makers who are white see Him as like Him, they cast Him with a white actor.
3) Another reason might be that most of the audience is white, so the movie makers want the audience to be able to identify with Him.
4) The important thing is do you know Him. If you do, then you are required to forgive others. If not, then your question is overshadowed by the great question of the cross: what wil you do with Jesus?

Actually Christ was a Jewish man, with dark complexion and dark hair due to his heritage, the Christ of the previous movies to The Passion, was a european version, made popular by renassaince painters, to include Davinchi.
It is said that they painted Him this way so that it would be more accepted.
There is a brief explanation of why. Believe or not.

Dear yarrow,

I do not know why this is. But may I tell you that it is a violation of God's commandments. See Exodus 20:4-7. A person that portrays "Jesus" in any film is sinning against God-so are the people who view the fil or performance. An image can be 2- or 3-dimensional.

No no longer Idolatry yet Racism. the reason being that right this moment rather a lot each and each of the Christians are the descendents (or their Converts) of the ecu Christians, who rebelled even as they were presented with the religion of Islam. the reason being that they did not themselves study about Christianity its flaws. on the different hand the Christians of Arab (the position Christianity began) knew their faith properly and so embraced Islam even as it became presented to them. it truly is why right this moment rather a lot each and each of the Arabs are Muslims. the ecu tale became diverse because those human beings were New to be switched over and so did not settle for Islam and Revolted. it truly is also the reason why the Christians are searching it confusing to settle for that Jesus became of the Arabian race and in no way White.

Agreed. I think it's silly how people think that Jesus must be white. White is symbolically a color of perfection used thoroughout the bible, but if they're going to use that defence they ought to make him look as white as a ghost instead of pleasantly peachy. I think he ought to look like a man of Middle Eastern decent--because that's what he was!

I agree, that is how the white Americans perceived Him..........all men are created equal? No only them, not even women are discussed in different ways...............did the Mayflower carry anyone who wasn't a Christian? Did not men run the church affairs, and make laws and write in the colonial days. No religious freedom was the reason the US was created..........so now why do you think Jesus is perceived that way........in their image, not our own image, and the Bible. The Bible states says the we were all created equal and in the likeness of God, who is to say

The vast majority of white images of Jesus are variations on a famous icon of Zeus.

I'm sure Zeus likes most of them, except the bloody getting tortured one.

dude, I don't know. I always wondered that myself. I mean in some Asian countries, they show Jesus as a Chinese person. I guess it is to show that Jesus died for everyone. Tho I always wondered why white? I mean he was arab so wouldn't he be darker? I mean I think if Jesus was white: blond and blue eyes: in the place that he was living in, he would probably be stoned to death!

Christ was not conceived through Joseph and Mary, so why would he have to look like them.
