Where is a web-site or store in which I can find some cheap, but nice, columns for a prom I have coming???

It would be best to find them in a prom catalog or other prom store. The local ACE Hardware or Lowes might donate or lend them to you.

If the above suggestions do not work you could always go to a carpet store and ask for some carpet tubes to paint or finish yourself.

Try Michael's ( a craft store)
Also , you may want to do a google search for theater stage materials.

See if you can rent them from a party store...
or check with local theater groups (have you asked your high school drama dept?)

if they won't be damaged, a local home center may let you borrow or rent them. especially for a non-profit.
they may be willing to negotiate in exchange for a sponsorship credit.
