I am not that familiar with computers, just bought my first new one. Do I have to buy anything?

check to make sure you have a cd/dvd drive
check to make sure you have a burn program such as Nero, Roxio, Sonic, EZ CD Creator, or any other brand name cd/dvd burn program/software installed on your computer
(click your Start button - All programs - look around in there for one of the above mentioned software programs)

insert a blank cd into your burner - usually once you've inserted the cd - a window pops up asking what you would like to do
example - play cd, burn cd, burn dvd, rip a cd/dvd, etc
click on - burn a Audio CD
the program window should open up - you may have to follow a few other prompts
next add file(s) to the "burn list"
once you have all the songs you want to burn to cd
click - start burn

It all depends on what kind of hardware that you have installed on your computer. When you bought the computer did you customize it to have a CD/DVD burner?

If so, the computer probably came with its own software for "burning" CDs. I personally use Windows Media 10, which has a tab that states burn, which i use to create playlist and then copies it to the blank CD.

If you didn't customize it with a CD/DVD burner, then you will have to go out and buy an external drive, which can hook up to your computer in the back. This drive will make it so that you can start creating CD/DVDs that you are wanting to create.

Hope this helps, good luck.

Since you said you just got a new one, I bet it has a CD-RW (that is r for read and w for write) disc drive. If it doesn't, you'll have to buy an external one that will probably hook up to your computer with a USB connection (or firewire).

Probably it's already in there. Some disks require formatting but mine don't--I'm on macs. On macs, the trick is you must be sure to burn your music as MUSIC and not DATA files. It's not totally wasted if you burn them as data, but you'll only be able to listen to them on computer drives rather than on your CD players.

Be sure you look that up in the "help" section on-line or in your software. If you're using iTunes, it's easiest to create a "playlist" and put your music in it first. That way when you burn it, it was ALWAYS be for music.

Have fun and don't stress! Congrats on the shiny new computer : )

Computers come with an "Operating System" program that controls everything else. Many other programs are available for other actions. If it does not have a program to burn CDs you may need to buy software.
You need to specify which OS you have and you need to inspect the programs already loaded on it. [Start > All Programs > etc.]

You will need a CD or DVD ROM burner installed and burning software (probably will come with the burner). You put a blank CD or DVD into your burner and follow the instructions in the program.
