dated for a long time knowing she wanted marriage but you did not with her? How long did you continue to date her and how far into the relationship did you know that she was not the one?

I dated her for about a year. I felt that you don't always "know" right away if the person is right. I gave our relationship some time to develop in my own time. Once I figured out it just wasn't going to happen for us I sat her down and explained how I felt. At first she was angry because she thought I used her, but then she realized I was just trying to give things a chance to work out. She appreciated it and we dated for a while longer as very close friends. I would not have stayed with her without telling her how I felt though. It's only fair to let them know as soon as you know it is not going to be "wedding bells" for your relationship.

Once I knew that I didn't want to marry her, I ended the relationship.

that's never happened to me. i've always looked for the gal that was the one for me. and we ended it almost as soon as we figured out that we weren't meant for each other. there was one time where we thought we might be the one's for each other... but circumstances taught us otherwise. and so my search continues.... :-(
