Saying you're pagan is like saying you're christian. There are so many different flavours that only a rough outline can be assumed. You really need to study up and find your path before you start practicing spells or rituals. You don't want to play with powers you have no idea how to control.

I would suggest finding a group of like minded people (doesn't have to be a coven, in fact I would say it's better NOT to be a coven at first) and feel your way through them. Find out what you click with and what you don't. Maybe attend an esbat or sabat ritual or two with a group of others and feel what it's like to call up (or down) energy. Only when you feel comfortable there, should you attempt anything resembling a spell or ritual on your own.

Good luck and blessed be.

First off I would suggest that you figure out which particular path within paganism you would like to follow then research on it before you do any rituals. You could end up doing something that you won't be able to undo. As I suggest to many who ask how they can go about being pagan (wiccan, witch, shaman, whatever falls under the umbrella term), read. Read as much as you can. You can never read too much, then...when you are really ready, then you can do a ritual or spell or whatever, K?

Hugs

You could call me a Pagan I suppose, I'm an Asatruar.

You don't need to preform any specific rituals to be a Pagan. Rituals aren't a necessity, just a way of helping you connect with the Gods and with Nature.

*raises hand*

I am a Wiccan. Without knowing what denomination of Paganism you hail from, I'm afraid I can't suggest any rituals. However, if you'd like some "starter material" from a Wiccan perspective (ritual outline, a little Book of Shadows with some chants, rituals, and invocations, and an excellent ebook on witchcraft), please feel free to email me and I'll be happy to share it.

You also might want to check out the Witches of the World section at Witchvox (it also includes Pagans):

Just use the pull-down menus on the left to find individuals, groups, shops, and events in your area.

I wish you the best of luck on your path.

I'm with the rest of the folks--read, read, read, and figure out what path interests you the most?

I recommend two books in particular if you have no idea where to start. The first one is Graham Harvey's "Contemporary Paganism". This is a decent overview of a number of neopagan faiths, from Wicca to Asatru to Druidry and then some. The other is Nicholas Graham's "The Four Powers: Magical Practice for Beginners of All Ages". It's a broader and more practical view at what's available; it explains the various models and paradigms of magic and related spirituality, and the exercises are specifically designed to help the reader narrow hir focus.

As for links, I like http://www.witchvox.com/_x.html?c=trads as an overview of different pagan traditions, http://www.davensjournal.com and http://www.twpt.com for general information, and I've collected a bunch of other links at http://www.thegreenwolf.com/links.html

If you want more books, Daven's Journal (above) has reviews, as does http://www.facingnorth.net . I also have a book review blog at http://lupabitch.wordpress.com Finally, check out the customer reviews for various books at http://www.amazon.com

I am Pagan.

From The Charge of the Goddess:

Let my worship be within the heart that rejoices,
for behold, all acts of love and pleasure are my rituals.
Therefore, let there be beauty and strength,
power and compassion, honor and humility,
mirth and reverence within you.

Peace be unto you as you walk the path of the Old Ones.
