OK I missed work last week with this flu, but it seemed like my son wouldn't get it. Now its Monday and he's sick. What do single parents do when they really need to get to work? I need the money, I already missed work. I asked my friend to watch him ,she works nights but she says she can't afford to get sick.

It depends on how old your child is. Here are a few options:

1. if he is kinder-3rd grade you could see if he can sleep in the nurse's office for part of the day so you only miss 1/2 day of work. The school nurse may be understanding enough to let you do this.

2. hire a sitter for the day. It may cost you a day's wages but won't cost you your job!

3. If he's at least 9 yrs old you could leave him at home with some prepared food/drink and come home and check on him a couple times during the day. (make sure he can call you if he needs you). I grew up in a pretty strict house but my mom would leave me home alone when I was sick and check in on me from the age of 9.

4. Ask your boss if there is any medical leave or anything that you aren't aware of so that you can take care of your kiddo.

Its tought to be a single parent with a sick child. Ask many of your friends to help you an in return you will help them. Also, ask some of your neighbors, family to help you.

That's really tough, I feel for you. Obviously you need to find someone to look after him for you.
