It depends what time of day.... On the train you can get into the city in 25 minutes... Driving will take you about 35-45 depending on traffic at the lincoln tunnel

It depends upon how you are travelling (car or train would be most likely options), what time of day you are travelling, and what part of New York City you want to get to.
You could probably be in NYC by train within 20-30minutes.
