Freedom OF religion ALSO MEANS freedom FROM religion.
You can practice whatever religious beliefs, or lack thereof, you want and not be forced to accept the religious practices of those other people as long as it doesn't infringe on their basic human rights.
So when Christian politicians say gay marriage is wrong, or stem cell research is not an option, or evolution is a "theory" and intelligent design should be taught in science classrooms, then you have every right to fight the spread of these beliefs, as they are influenced by the Bible, not rational thought.

Well the 1st amendment, as it was originally written, specifically protected you from religion and would protect your right to fight it. However the wording was changed quite a bit during ratification of congress and it's now more vague.
Fighting religion should be protected under free speech however. If you want to take legal actions (esp. at Supreme Court level) to stop the spread of the mental virus of christianity, you can appeal to "framer's intent" by pointing out that the original framers of the constitution very clearly wanted you to be protected from religion. In addition to finding the original wording for the 1st amendment, there are many quotes from the founding fathers (who openly hated christianity) to further evidence that they originally intended protection from religion.
Good luck.

here is the 1st substitute in its entirety: "Congress shall make no regulation respecting an company of religion, or prohibiting the loose exercising thereof; or abridging the liberty of speech, or of the clicking; or the impressive of the folk peaceably to collect, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances." Do you notice something in there that could exclude Buddhism, Hinduism, Taoism, Shintoism, or the different "ism" you are able to think of of? i don't. So, the reply to you question could desire to be, confident, those "isms" are completely secure below the form.

If Christianity is as stupid as your question implies, then why not dismiss it as such and get on with your life? I think other beliefs are stupid and I don't give them another second of my time. The wonderful thing about living in this country is that we have the freedom to worship (or not) as we please without being persecuted. What I see most in these forums is the persecution of Christians, above all other groups. I find that ironic, considering that our founding fathers formed this nation on Christian principles and ideals, that you would want to use our laws to attack/stop the spread of the very religious beliefs that our nation was founded on.
Look - like my belief system or not. That is your choice. Do what you want to do. That is YOUR right guaranteed by the freedom of religion. Just don't mess with MY right to practice as I see fit. If you don't like someone preaching on street corners, then go the other way. I don't like to see people begging on corners who are obviously NOT homeless, but are scamming people (I will try to help someone who is obviously homeless - one CAN tell the difference). I can try to get legislation to stop these folks, but there is a thing called freedom of speech, and they have the right to stand there and tell people that they need help, whether or not they actually do. Look - I don't go around trying to stop you from saying how you believe. There are people out there going to great lengths to try to stop Christians from practicing their beliefs. It is not illegal nor immoral for Christians to tell others about Christ. It is a caring and loving thing for Christians to do, especially given the rejection and hate they face when doing so. You worry about us Christians bothering you. Well then, tell us to stop or go the other way, tune us out, ignore us, go somewhere else, tell us to go somewhere else, turn off the tv, change the channel, do whatever. Nobody is FORCING you to listen to our views. Still, you and others like you are actively persecuting us, making fun of us, ridiculing us, trying to stop us from practicing our beliefs, removing symbols of our faith from places they have been for years, not allowing us to even pray or speak the name of Christ (or God) in certain places. You and those like you are violating OUR rights, when we are not violating yours.
I do find it interesting that out of all the beliefs, even those belief systems that are associated with terrorist acts, the only one that is persecuted against the most is Christianity. Christianity threatens people who don't believe. Those who don't believe but also don't care are not threatened. Those who don't believe but DO care enough to want to stop the idea of creation being taught in the schools (concurrently with evolution) and to take down crosses on government property, not only have too much time on their hands, but they are honestly feeling threatened by Christianity. Why is that? Could it be because Christianity speaks the TRUTH, and the truth is frightening to those who don't want to be confronted with it??

Better people than you have tried to fight the spread of Christianity and failed miserably. They're nothing but dust and bones in the ground, but Jesus Christ is alive and the sovereign Lord of the universe.
Accepting Him as your Savior is the true "religious freedom."
