I get these cramps in my right calf muscle and found I'm doing it when I'm dreaming of doing something athletic and wake to find I'm flexing my foot in my sleep. Have you ever heard of this? What causes this? Why just the right leg?

sounds like RLS.. (restless leg syndrome) I did this for years, and I'm not sure why you do it but with like proper matresses adn therapies and sometimes medication you can totally fix it.. Right lteg could have to do with how you sleep ( what side you put pressure on)

Here's a link on it

PERHAPS YOU ARE POTASSIUM DEFICIENT? I KNOW THAT'LL CAUSE CRAMPING LIKE THAT. OTHERWISE, I HAVE SEEN THIS MENTIONED IN A NEWSPAPER COLUMN (DR. GOTT) SEVERAL TIMES AND PEOPLE ARE PUTTING A BAR OF SOAP AT THE FOOT OF THEIR BED AND IT CURES LEG CRAMPS. NOBODY CAN EXPLAIN HOW OR WHY IT WORKS, BUT APPARENTLY IT DOES. (I'VE SEEN IT MANY, MANY, TIMES). SO IF YOU ARE GETTING ENOUGH POTASSIUM, THEN I WOULD SUGGEST TRYING THE SOAP TRICK. (ANY KINDA SOAP WILL DO...) JUST TAKE IT OUT OF THE WRAPPER AND PUT IT UNDER THE BOTTOM SHEET AT THE FOOT OF THE BED.

PRETTY CHEAP TRICK, AND WHAT HAVE YOU GOT TO LOOSE?

GOOD LUCK!!

Muscle cramps can be caused by a potassium deficiency. Make sure you are getting enough of that in your diet. If it keeps up, you may want to talk to your doctor about it, just so you can rest better.

Tight soleus and gastrocnemius muscles (the calf). When you point your toes, you're shortening those muscles and if they are tight they will cramp.

See massage therapist.
