I wouldn't know, I'm American. And I can always throw down some plastic if you think it is going to get really messy!

I'm not sure I understand. Just like the rest of the world, you have people who are very concerned about their appearance. But I don't think Canadian men are any more concerned about it than the rest of the world.
Speaking only for myself, I often appear a bit messed up, with hair misbehaving and clothing that may have a few wrinkles in them. But there is a difference between messy and dirty!
