He's not poorly and he's been to my local vet, but it's irritating him. He keeps sneezing and scratching at it. It has built up gradually over a period of about a year, and now his nostril is completely blocked. The blockage is the same colour as the skin around the nostrils, and it isn't lumpy, and there's no discharge. Anybody seen this before?

My amazon has this from time to time. It is a feather or dust that has been caught in his nose. Your vet needs to remove it. Once removed, he will be able to breathe correctly. Til then he is only breathing out one nostril. Not good for his heath.

Hope this helps him.
Good luck.

My bird had the same.

You need to take your bird to not just any old vet but an AVIAN vet. They will weigh the bird, take cultures of the nostrils, faeces, and croup. Then they will flush out whatever is inside his nostrils with a saline solution.

Sometimes birds hide illness well and when they start to show signs it is way too late. Act quickly if you care about your bird.

No idea and have never seen it before - suggest you seek the advice of a vet, or perhaps do a web search, it may be that amazon parrots do have a genetic tendency to this.

You need to get the parrot into the vets ASAP. By the time the parrot starts showing physical symptoms, it will be too late.

parrots are very sensetive by the time they show anything unusual it normally means they have been ill for weeks, this is very worrying to me, i would certainly have him rechecked and have a second opinion, my parrot didnt seem unwell then one day he didnt say goodmorning took him straight to the vet, the vet fought for 4 weeks to try to save him but it was too late. please have him rechecked.
