Fibre-rich foods fill you up, they also encourage the intestines to work efficiently. Much of the absorption of nutrients in food takes place in the small intestine, and the re-uptake of water is carried out in the large intestine, so keeping this part of the digestive tract stimulated and in good nick is great for digestive health.

Fibre is found in high quantities in vegetables - potatoes, brussels sprouts, onions, leeks etc. Lentils are very rich in the stuff, and are full of protein to boot.

Fibre does not burn fat, but eating fibre makes your digestive system feel satisfied. Fats also do this, but a diet rich in fats but deficient in fibre can cause weight gain.

Finally, eating a lot of veg and lentils may seem boring. It need not be. Have a look at the cooking of Bengal, Gujerat and the Punjab. They have lots of spicy veggie recipies that are very tasty, easy to cook and satisfying to the appetite.

I found the book to be very informative and easy to read.

I've lost 17 pounds in 12 days, I'm just concerned that I'm losing too much weight, too quickly. I will admit I haven't followed the guide exactly. I'm not sticking perfectly to the listed foods and meal plans (but mostly) and doing very little exercise, but the weight keeps flying off.

It clearly works and if I'd followed it exactly I think it would scare the living daylights out of me because of the amount that I'd lose. So thanks again for the information. I've never purchased anything like this before because they are usually full of trash, but 3WD has been a pleasant surprise.

Fibre doesn't help you burn fat. It keeps you full longer and of course keeps you regular, which means no bloated tum!
