Or will they disqualify me, because I was general discharged from the Navy??

How can you get a general discharge before you leave for Navy basic training? Did you lie to the recruiters? Did you get in some kind of trouble after you enlisted? Whatever happened, if you got a general discharge you're screwed. Not even the Army will take you, and that general discharge will follow you for the rest of your life -- heck, even McDonald's checks to see if you served in the military, and if you got anything less than an honorable discharge they want to know why.

1. Before you go to boot camp you can back out at ANY time. Another branch of service may not take you because you have already been to MEPS for another branch.
2. General discharges are good, if you say your gay, or go "crazy" you get a general under honorable. One of my best friends has a general discharge and he makes 60 grand a year, Also, if you have a general under honorable you can work for the government again.
3. You recieve NO DD paperwork (either honorable or general) before 180 of service is completed, you are simply seperated and set free.
4. If you go AWOL you can strike a plea with the military for a general under honorable, you may do 30 days in the brig, after that your free, and your discharge will NOT hurt you, no one will ever ask.
5. If you are sent overseas and go AWOL, in some countries if you marry a local, you have amnesty from the military, they can never get you.
6. Don't join the military, several of my friends were killed when we were deployed, I also have a good friend who comitted suicide due to the abuse he suffered in the military. It's just not worth it.

A General Discharge is a discharge under LESS than honorable conditions. It is almost as bad as a Dishonorable discharge. You would have a hard time finding any employment with a GD, and no, the army will NOT touch you with a 5000 Ft. pole. You don't even have to be a lawyer to figure this one out.

if you do something wrong enough to get kicked out of DEP, it's unlikely that you'll be able to serve in the Army. However, if you go and DO YOUR COMMUNITY SERVICE before you go to boot camp, you should be fine. I imagine this sort of thing is rather common, actually.

You would have to talk to a army recruitor. SOmetimes you need to wait 6 months or so to join. only a recruitor can look at your records and tell you where you stand
