Consolations of religion? Maybe God's consolations. There are many. God consoles His little ones when they are in trouble. He uses instruments like you and me to console one another. He uses nature and all its beauty to console those who feel abandoned, neglected, lost, alone, rejected, confused, etc. He uses songs to uplift the spirit. He uses His sons and daughters to console one another in their times of difficulty and trials. He uses the scriptures to console people when they are feeling lost and do not know what to do. God consoles people and makes them feel His loving Presence in many ways. He feeds us with good food when we are hungry. He nourishes our souls with His own Body and Blood in Holy Communion and in the Holy Eucharist. When we have sinned and offended Him He consoles us with His loving forgiveness and gives us a brand new start. He allows us to fall, repent and start again as long as we are sorry. He enables us to be His own adopted children. He tells us we are His children. We are children of a loving and caring King of the Universe. He gives peace to His sons and daughters when they try to do His will. He gives us wisdom and strength to face life's challenges. He gives us every grace and blessing to live a good and fruitful meaningful life. He grants us our wishes if they are good for us and good for our souls. The consolations of religions are too many to enumerate here. They are as countless as the sands of the seas. This is because God is a good God. He is the God of all consolations. But we must not love the consolations of God. Rather we must love the God of all consolations.
