No it isn't brutal all three of my sisters use boxed hair color and it always works and looks fine.

If you are wanting highlights though you should probably go to a salon because it is much easier.

But If you are just doing one solid color the boxed stuff works great. You usually have to do it about every couple months so the color can look more rich but other than that it works great.

It is also fairly easy my sister does hers by herself and it doesnt make a mess you just need to wear a shirt you dont like ( you might get some dye on it) or a towel around your neck.
Good Luck. =)

Nope. It's just if you do it wrong, it CAN be brutal. It's cheaper, more efficient (but messy) and if you don't go too many shades off your own colour, it can be fine. I do my own hair all the time.

Find something that says: semi-permanent if you're worried, or things that say: Gentle on the hair.

No hair dye is really "gentle" though, I mean you ARE bleaching or depositing colour into your hair and changing what it naturally is....

The one thing boxed hair colour do not offer is toner! and that is what keeps your hair from looking brassy, it really sets the colour, and that is why when you go to a good salon your hair looks good when they do colour or highlights.

I have also used box hair colour and it came out fine!
So, I guess it all depends, you could just try it and see fro yourself.

Same stuff, especially if you go to a salon shop and buy it. I have been using over the counter forever. I have never had my hair dyed unless I was changing colors or getting frosted. But, one color, shoot it's simple.

No, its not, yet you won't get the colour you decide on. attempt going to Sally splendor and making use of the products there.. they artwork slightly extra advantageous than commonly used container dye, are relating to an analogous fee, and supply extra good consequences.

REAL bad if you don't know what you are doing!! I don't know the difference as far as the chemicals, but I learned the hard way to not be cheap - just go let a professional do it!
