I don't know but that sounds off the wall. I would get it rechecked and taken care of ASAP.

My PSA was 14 when I was diagnosed with prostate cancer, but one patient had a PSA of 120 and Harry Secombe's was over 200 when he was diagnosed with prostate cancer, by then it was too late to save him. My Doctor said he has known it as high as 2000 but it is far too late to help anyone then. 980 is dangerously high if that is a correct reading, it may as another person has suggested be a misreading so get a second opinion. You will need prompt treatment, hormones and radiotherapy, possibly surgery. The oncology department will decide what is best for you.

A PSA of nine hundred and eighty is extremely unlikely in anything else other than prostate cancer. You need a urologist right away. Just in case you missed a decimal point, even a PSA of 9.80 needs a prostate biopsy to look for prostate cancer. See a urologist ASAP. Means NOW. IMMEDIATELY. SHUT OFF THE COMPUTER AND GOOOOOOOOOOOOO.

I think the PSA would be extremely high at 9.8. If a PSA is that high, its a sign of either a prostate as big as a basketball or prostate cancer.

Are you sure? Have you verified the result and seek a second independent test?
And have they scoped your prostate?
