My friend did it but the only problem was that when he went to bed he fell back down to the lounge!

If it's a "bearing" wall, then you can't remove it entirely and will have to install a "header" (beam) over the new opening.

put dust sheets down get a heavy hammer ie one with a big fat head sledge hammer and always start at the top making sure that it is not a supporting wall good luck

go into the loft and see wheter ther is any exposed brick above where the wall is situated, if there is it is a supporting wall and dont go near it with a lump hammer.
