This would be a dream fight. I would have to go with Muhammad Ali as a slight favourite. Both their styles were very similiar. Both had a good jab, and devastating rights. Jack Johnson had the power but Ali had the speed and the style. Ali I feel would be way to fast for Johnson and that speed would eventually tire Johnson out. Where Johnson would throw two punches Clay(Ali) would throw three four and five punch combinations of which I don't think Jack Johnson would have the answer for. I'd again would give the edge to Ali

Jack Johnson replaced right into a plenty greater desirable guy that a great sort of persons comprehend and replaced right into a grasp boxer with a effectual punch. He replaced into an expert at parrying punches and knocking them down and countering with stressful counterpunches. Muhammad Ali replaced into the main proficient heavyweight together with his nimble and swish footwork and rapid reflexes, He additionally had an fairly quickly jab and vast at thoughts enjoying in the previous a combat which genuinely helped him win a great sort of fights. this does not be an undemanding combat for the two guy as Johnson could persist with Ali and %. off some jabs and countering Ali effectively. Ali could even nevertheless land a great sort of excellent jabs and stay faraway from Johnson's skill lots of the combat and win a particularly close determination.

Good question. Since both men were champions, legends, both men changed the boxing world and helped paved the road for black fighters this match sounds like a dream match. However taking two fighters from two different boxing time periods, this match would not be as good as you may think. Look at the fighting style of boxers in the early 1900's as well as their training. Johnson would probably lose to Ali due to Ali being in better conditioning and having a "modern" boxing style which Johnson would have trouble with.

I think Ali was faster. Ali by decision. I do agree with you they were very similar. I think Ali made more of a determined effort to win all the fights he could. Johnson threw the Willard fight and if he threw one I think he chose for what ever reason not to win some other fights also. Johnson was a better defensive fighter than his record shows. Johnson is in my top five heavyweights of all time. Good match up.

I agree that both men had tremendous talent. Their level of competition are very different, though. I think this fight would last the distance with Ali getting the best of it. Ali is smarter and had modern day training. Johnson can only go so far with his inferior fighting style against Ali. Ali was made to face every style that there ever was. Ali could adapt to a fight at one point and take over from there.

Jack Johnson would win. He was a defensive genius, and Muhammad Ali was not a power puncher. Ali never initiated contact, always circling and backing up. Johnson would take Ali to the woodshed.

If you mean today, I would have to take Ali (Johnson's been dead a long time).
If you mean in a theoretical fight in their primes, I would still have to take Ali. Ali was a master at slipping punches. Johnson fought in the era of two men standing in front of each other and wailing away. Whoever could take more punches won. The science of boxing has come a long way since the days of Jack Johnson. Training improvements over the years have made today's boxer far superior to yesterday's.
I am convinced that Ali, in his prime, could beat any boxer in history. He was awesome!
