The same thing happened to me (sort of). You can read my story if you would like in one of my questions. She doesn't need to hear poems, but to write them. They helped me because they helped me express my feelings since I cried a lot. Here's one i made just for your frend.----
"Don't Give Up"
By- Anyanomous
Why is your smile hidden?
Why does your head hang so low, my friend?
Why do those tears keep falling down, down, down?
We can't forever just pretend.
Lift your head up, and give me a smile.
Wipe those tears away.
Take my hand; I'll help you up.
Everything is going to be okay.
She will be safe up above in Heaven.
She is now in the hands of the Almighty Lord.
She is waiting for you to someday come.
But for now you can not afford,
To give up your happiness.
You'll make it through.
Don't give up your happiness.
Don't give it up for me; don't give it up for her; don't give it up for you.
**You can say you made it for a special touch.(It would not be lying since I said you could)**

She should know that what she is going through is normal. Even though it is a terrible thing it is a beautiful thing she is going through. Her experience will make her a better person because she has suffered and will be supportive to others around her that may go through the same thing. She will know their pain.
I have had a lot of pets and each one was like a sibling to me. They died of similar and far worst things. I too felt torn apart and never able to love another one, but I did and have. My father never showed too much attachment to our pets but when my toy poodle was hit by a truck he caressed her for hours.
She shouldn't give up on loving another pet because of her unfortunate circumstances. I can tell she has so much love to give. She should take time to heal from this one and adopt another.

That so awful!I had two kittens a couple of years ago named Leo and smudge but Leo got hit by a car as well when he was 1. then a few weeks later smudge went missing too and i was devastated so i can imagine what your friend is going through and I sympathise greatly. But a year on I have two beautiful cats named Lotty and tootsie and i love them to pieces. Time is a great healer...
RIP:(

Find her a little cat angel ornament/knick-knack. It will give her a sweet reminder, not only of her kitties, but of your kindness.
Trust me, I have lost cats in the past, no words can help. But there is a poem, called "Rainbow Bridge".

this is very tough, the death of animals because they are our best friends. You could try and gently explai to her that this is natural. death occures and is inevitable.
a nice quote is;
In the end what matters most is
How well did you love,
how well did you live and
how well did you learn to let go.
also, how old is your friend?

with no offence as such i would like to tell your friend to get over herself.
death is nature's rule, someday or the other we all are gonna die. it is normal to get attached emotionally to pets, but you got to be practicle in life.
adopting a cat or any pet is very noble, you are providing those helpless animal shelter and food, don't ever stop that....
but make sure that any of your pet don't die because of you because if something like this happens than its bad .
