He's trying to be flattering. And he either thinks you're so shallow that that's the best thing to say to win your heart and body, or he's so unimaginative that he doesn't know what else to talk about.

He thinks you are beautiful! When I am talking to a woman that I find Gorgeous, I can't stop telling her, I don't even want to have sex with her especially, it's just how I feel and I know it would make her happy to know that's what I think. I also know that women don't believe you when you say that kind of thing, so I repeat it again and again until she knows I'm not lying.

What one man could perceive as BEAUTIFUL (in looks)...another could interpret as SEXY...and a third might be referencing your personality?
What's the point of analyzing? If a man pays you a compliment, why don't you just say: THANK YOU! If you choose to compliment him back...tell him he's handsome, sexy or has "great taste when it comes to a woman!"

Well, my ex used to tell me that all the time and it turns out he didnt really think i was that pretty, he was trying to convince himself, but not all guys are like that.
