I don't think that there is a given name for cats. In my opinion, you have to name you cat based on there personality.
For example, my cat's name is velcro. Because he is such a friendly cat, he sticks to anyone.

Well, my cat is named Emily, so obviously I like that name. But before that I had Jennifer and Melissa. I like to give my cats real names, then they are part of the family.

Callie is a really cute name for a cat. My female cat is named Buffy. My sister's kitten is named Venom. It just depends on what you like. =)

I like to give cats names by how they act because my cat pured loads and loads and loads so I called it Purdy.
