Gross - use a tissue...and throw it away. People hate hankies because most people (and rightly so) think they aren't washed every day - YUCK!

I come from an Eastern (British) country and using hankies is common there. I seemed to change when I came to USA becoz I was told no one used them here and they laughed at me. I was young so I got influenced and changed my habit. Well now I don't even miss a hanky. I feel you should go with what you prefer. Sometimes we don't have a kleenex everywhere we go, a hanky can always come in handy then. Be who you are I'd say. I think people might find it different and interesting, but I doubt that people would find them off-putting.

No, not unless you don't wash them. I prefer hankies to paper tissue because hankies won't end up in the land fields. And there are oh so many pretty ones to choose from. Embroidered and lacy.
Course on second thought, if phosphorus is in the detergent I use to clean the hankies, I guess that still pollutes the environment by the used water going into our streams and lakes. Oh well.

As a daughter of someone who uses hankies, and has all his life....it is gross....but my dad is from the generation that used hankies because, well they didn't have tissues I don't think. As far back as I can remember, my dad used them and I remembering having to wash them when I would do the laundry. I would take one of his t-shirts in my hand and use it sort've as a glove, to pick up his hankies and put them in the washer..that way I wouldn't have to touch them.
And being that they were white, we'd wash them in hot water and use bleach so I knew they were clean by the time they were ready to go into the dryer.
Hankies...yep...they'll always remind me of my dad!

I prefer using hankies.
They are a sign of a gentleman and are very practical. Much softer on your nose, better for the environment and if washed every day, not gross at all!

Personally, I prefer the one-time-use KLEENEX. I'm no scientist, but I'll bet that it's a bit more sanitary to use tissues to hankies.

Well, I don't need to blow my nose much but it seems that _when_ I do, I need to do so many times a day... so it'd get very gross indeed! I guess if you don't need to use it that often it's okay.

I think it's great for the enviornment and as long as you use a fresh one daily I think it would be okay.
