All is fair in love, war adn RS.
I think you are asking a pascals wager question in disguise. .... usual Christian answer. Believing in god as a wager is a weak argument, but it is a start.
We may be wrong to seek our creator if we turn out wrong. But seeking God and purpose has improved my life and attitite either way.

If we are wrong, then life has no meaning and it doesn't matter if we live or die, and whether or not people are murdered are physically assualted. Oh yeah, and there is no hope.. ..no hope; nothing to look forward to after living in such a vile, messed up world. And then, we need to wander around trying to explain how things like our DNA was some kind of accident; or how with all our technology, we can't prove that this accidental life on earth was never some how accidently formed on another planet in another galaxy far far away.. Jeesh, now that I think about it; there is no way I could be wrong. Its amazing how so many atheists have set out to prove their points and then realized they were mistaken and come to God. Those who don't, just merely continued to use atheism as an excuse to live their sinful life. Its much much easier to live a sinful life when you don't have to answer to anyone. But, in the end; you do and you will.

Logically , it wouldn't matter to an atheist if the Christian was wrong
. It'ss a 50/50 bet ... If the Christian is wrong , they will never know , and would have lived their lives carrying the thought of the wonderful afterlife that awaited them , allowing them for personal reasons to believe in something that brought them comfort. If the atheists is wrong , well...they lived their life in the manner they chose and in a way that for personal reasons brought THEM comfort, and they will have an afterlife which God deems appropriate ,
I don't think that being either is right or wrong , because I think it's all personal. Personal Battles with holding faith are just that...personal.
I personally hold Faith in the Lord ...it comforts me to think that God is there for me . Will I regret having that source of comfort if I end up wrong in the end ? Absolutely not .
In the end we can only do what is right for each of us individually , and either side trying to argue superiority isn't getting anybody anywhere. Christians are supposed to share the Word , but not berate; " Judge not lest ye be Judged " , and Atheists aren't going to change the hearts of those who fill it with the Lord .
Good luck on your path ,
~Ej

Unfortunately, if you should ask that question, many fanatical Christians would not open their minds even a little to give you a fair return answer coz they would not even begin to consider it a possibility... coz if they did, it is a scary thought that their whole life of devotion and abstinence are all for a Zero and not to be a hero.
I have always wondered, from their perspective why it is ok for Over Zealous Religious People to "grill" non-believers in a certain way, but whenever the same and equal treatment is given back... They will yell bloody murder, or play the wounded poor me victim. OR go on the absolute offensive and fire you with a verbal AK47.

Yes it is fair to ask. If I were to find out that I am wrong it would not be the first time. As for my beliefs, if I were to find out that I'm wrong then nothing lost. Since coming to believe in Christ's message I have not contracted any new STDs, saved money from not doing substances, have treated people much better, and don't have to wonder if I will be arrested. I would rather err on the safe side than to find out that I was wrong in not believing in something. At least my life has some hope now.

i think of it is going the two strategies, yet a minimum of the atheists are too easy to apply the excuse that they care relating to the Christians' souls. Edited to function: I could desire to factor out that I actual have seen some Christians labelling posts as "hate-filled" and "attacking" for no different reason than the poster replaced into tactfully mentioning a actuality that surpassed off to conflict with the different person's faith. So a number of it somewhat is interior the eyes of the beholders.

If I'm wrong, I end up as nothing. No big deal.
This isn't that bad of a lifestyle, once you get away from the legal lunatics who think they're christians just because they use the Lord's name. (see Matthew 7:15-23). To become "christian" just to get into heaven is not much different than buying "hell fire" insurance - and it badly colors what Jesus was trying to teach us.
I have fun, I laugh, I play music, listen to music, write, read stuff other than the bible, chat on-line, study science, think for myself, debate, keep the house going, make car payments, have the sad times too, the angry times as well ... pretty well all the stuff anyone else does.
I don't not do things because of my beliefs - my beliefs free me to do things.

Since religion seems to based on a deep fear that someone somewhere is having more fun and might be happy without all the guilt, the consequences of their being wrong is obvious. They will be sad for all the fun, the great debauchery that they missed out on, all the good dope, boozing, carousing and great sex they could have had, the raunchy life they wanted to live live but were fearful would land them in hell.

Here ia a little proof for the atheists
A teaser for those of you that are not willing to take a look at the link below:
- The Bible says that there are more stars that the sand of the sea shore. For 1800 years this was stated to be proof that the Bible was wrong because before telescopes the stars that could be seen could be counted (we can see approximately 2000 stars with the unaided eye). Now that we have the telescope, science has prooved that the bible was right.
