You can do any kind of cardio machine they wont hurt your back. And just watch what you eat keep your diet under 2000 calories a day, and drink 6-8 glasses of water a day to clean your system out. Good Luck!

Walk outdoors or on a treadmill. I have a bad lower back and sometimes I would do the ab work on the exercise ball which helped. Of course, consult your Dr. first to see what you are allowed to do. I think there is a back exercise called The Williams, you can check that out as well. You want to work on strengthening the core of your body and avoiding certain movements, so a physical therapist could also help you based upon your Doc's recommendations.

Do stretch exercise and low impact exercise to help. Stay away from fatty foods or fried foods. Talk with your doctor he can recommend exercise that may help. If you find out that you can not do the exercise with out causing you a lot of pain, then just walk as much as you can. Do not expect to loose a lot a weight fast. Do what you can and take the breaks as you need them in exercise. Trying to much can injure you more than help you.

back problems can either make you lose weight or gain weight. I lost a lot of weight. I went to a chriopacter and he helped me out with my back and to feel better. you might check into that. I found out that walking really helped me as the more I walked the better I felt. don't lift too much as if you do you can make things worse if you don't know what levels in your back are messed up. get a doctor to help you with this as the longer you put it off the more it travels to other areas of the body as I well know.

For a bad back the best exercise is in the water. For exercises in water, water makes your body buoyant and work more muscles out then out of water just start out slow for as you come out of the water your body will feel weaken a little. Do what exercises that don't strain or discomfort you in any way in the water.

Get an excesses bike in your living room and promise yourself that you will not watch any TV unless you are riding the bike at the same time. Bikes are easy on the back if you have a good seat for it.
