because they (the airlines) recycle the air in the plane which can cause bacteria and other viruses to be recycled through out the flight.. since the chemo kills ur immune system you are more likely to become infected with an infection because most passengers carry some kind of virus... your best bet is not to fly for the 18 months but if you require travel during that 18 months it's highly recommended that you wear a face mask during the entire flight and waiting periods in the airport due to your high ability to get an infection

I had six chemo. treatments last year and flew to Cuba and Mexico 6 months later. My oncologist just said, get on with life as usual and gave me a letter to fly out with saying I was fit to fly. I am on my secnd round of chemo. now and hope to finish at the end of March. I am planning a trip to the USA in May and my oncologist once again said, just go for it.
Unless there is another reason for you, I can't see any problems. Make sure you get a letter first from your doctors though to say you are fit for travel. Just in case! Good Luck!

GERMS!! Everyone's germs are being recirculated on the airplane.. your immune system is weakened from chemo and radiation and you cannot fight off illness like you should be able to and can succumb to a cold and it will turn into a deadly pneumonia quickly when your immune system is down!

It is probably just for your specific situation. Many cancer patients who have had chemo and radiation fly to distant medical facilities for threatment.

My son just finished treatment and flew out to the West coast to visit friends. He had no problem.
