one answer goes like this
You are not making sense. The Bible is quoted because we do not follow our own desires but HIS. The only way to know what HE would have us do is to read the BIBLE. The blessings are to those who READ, HEAR, and HEED the Word of GOD. We just want ppl to understand that when we say something is wrong or right that it is not our opinion but that of GOD.
and then i said hmmmm isnt that exactly what my question says religious people do?
and also with the manuals and stuff, car manuals are documented proven sources of information....the bible is not

I would answer...but the last question was about proving God via the Bible and not convincing atheists.
First of all...not all religious people are Christians (thus using the Bible), so you question is for Christians - not religious people.
In this question, you say religious people again...and refer to the bible. There are more perspectives and kinds of religious people than this.
I don't refer to the Bible at all if I can help it...I refer to my own personal experience. I know God exists from a direct personal experience I have had...and I know that is the only way you could KNOW God exists. Therefore, there is no way to prove to another that God exists...so I don't try.
I think that answered all your questions (from a religious person, you could say).

I am religious, but I don't quote the Bible. Then again, I'm not Christian. I have a question for you...Why do Christians think that just because a person is not Christian that they are not religious? Some of the most religious people I know are Taoists and pagans. So, how do you define Religious? Maybe you're paying too much attention to the people who answer with quotes than you are those who answer with experiences or views.

How did you get your sense of humor? How did you get your personality? By ACCIDENT? Who made DNA? What engineer designed it?
One cannot explain something that is beyond one's ability to totally understand. People use the Bible as an historic document that talks about God, Jesus Christ is God in the Flesh...so one could say...look at Jesus. His life is documented internally in the Bible as well as externally by secular historians.
I think your comment about religious people is a little GENERAL. You are presuming you know all religious people and I don't think that is true. The last sentence is a bit angry....what did religious people do to you?

You object to a Christian using the Bible to try and get a point across?
Would you also object to your car mechanic referring to the manual?
Would you object to the President referring to the constitution?
Would you object to an actor referring to the script?
What do you expect?
The Bible is an authority.
O.K. you don't accept it as such.
All that means is you don't accept it as such ....it doesn't mean its not an authority.
Its a whole lot more sensical than 99% of the personal opinions on this board.

Because most religions unfortunately require that people don't think for themselves. They can spurt words from a book, but they generally can't explain what they mean. And to find a progressive, free thinking, overly religious person is very rare. Mostly it's not their fault, I attribute it to the majority of people being very weak minded and needing some sort of spiritual being to validate their existence. Religion is the same as the government in the way that they both use fear to control people. In the case of most religions, you abide by their rules and laws because you're afraid you're going to be screwed in the afterlife. People choose this way of being told to think because it's easier than trying to have to navigate life and decide on your own what is right and what is wrong.

Well, I think that christians fail to understand that atheists tend to think that the Bible is B.S., thus their decision to be atheists. It is lost on most theists that using a book we think is B.S. to prove to us that religious beliefs are true, is very faulty logic. Don't hold your breath for actual answers. People keep quoting the dang bible.
For instance, someone asks what Bible prophecies have actually come true, does the Bible have any supportive evidence (this is an atheist asking). You know what religious people answer? Well, there were over 300 prophecies about Jesus, and they all came true! Ha! Come on, people. Do you not think about that before you write? Atheists don't believe that Jesus was the son of God so if you are showing them evidentiary support, telling that prophecies of Jesus (whom they don't believe in, at least as the son of God) came true, you are wasting good time.

What kinds of questions? Ask a question, and I will try, using the Bible, to answer it. The Bible answers all types of questions, you just have to be looking for the answers.

Because your not asking the RIGHT PERSON...
I recommend you this site: http://www.truthcaster.com/
A very good religious program. ANSWERS ALL QUESTIONS OF FAITH, THRU THE BIBLE. That is why it was awarded as The Most Informative Religious Program from the recently concluded Gawad Amerika Awards.
Try it...

Probably for the same reason agnostics and atheists don't. Its a lot easier to make fun or repeat parrot fashion something that is not really relevant than to answer a question. Everyone does it, not just Christians.
