The best way to remove scratches on cds and dvds is to throw them away, and buy a new one. NONE of the Scratch Dr. devices I have tried has really worked much at all.

You can try one of the machines that they offer at Wal-mart (just picked them, because it will be cheapest there). They are in the electronics department by the CD-rs. Remember, you get what you pay for, so get the best one if you want any results at all. If your DVD\CD has deep scratches, it is impossible to repair. My resurfacer fixes about 70% of my skipping problems. They also have CD\DVD "skins" that you can put on the disk and supposedly protect it. I have not tried them, so I don't know if they work at all. Also, If you use Family Video, or Blockbuster frequently, you may be able to talk one of the employees to resurface a disk for you. just a thought...good luck!

Disc Doctor is the best I've tried but they aren't garaunteed to work. Get the motorized one that really buffs the things to a shine. Another option is to use a soft cloth and tooth paste. (not gel mind you but tooth paste) I've used that method to some success, but if the disc is damaged too badly there really is no hope. Just replace it if you can.
