I live in the NW Florida Panhandle, and I'm going up to River Cliff Animal Hospital (in GA/ 5 1/2 hr drive) with a 17 wk old female dobe on Thursday. The location is in the link below. I've never used this vet, but I've heard great reviews from Doberman owners and breeders at the dog show I attended last week that recommended I see her about this very issue. She has photos of ears that she's cropped, and on dog was Brunswig's Cryptonite himself!

There is an area of their website you can contact her with your problem, and she will email you back, but if you are in GA, you might be close enough to just make an appointment for a consult. Looks like the site is under construction, but the "Contact Us" is still working.

House of Hoytt does have a pretty remarkable bracing system. I've never used it.

You may have to post and tape for longer time than a few weeks.
Some dogs ears take a long time to stand properly.
They make a ear form that you can use.
Some of the supply catalougs sell them and I think the web site for House of Hoyt Dobermans sells them also.
They are light weight from that you place the ears into and it holds them up until the dogs ear cartalige grows in enough to support the ears.

the vet i work for does excellent ear trims of all kinds. sometimes he puts tongue depresses inside the ears and tapes them like that or he uses a styrofoam coffee cup (like one from star bucks). there are all kinds of ways to get the ears to stand. we are in lagrange georgia and the name of the clinic is family pet care. i don't know if you are willing to travel, but we have a lot of patients from atlanta, columbus, and americus and we are at least 60 miles from all of these places. just give a call good luck
