That is basically true, the only place an open container may be in a vehicle is behind the rearmost passenger seat, and not accessable to the driver.

for all those that think this is a dumb law....
when you hurt or kill a Texan and are in jail for a really long time or life don't come cryin to us Texans to get you out.
