Because their wholehearted acceptance of the doctrine over many many generations obscures the fact that it cannot be proven ... and it cannot be proven because it was false from the word "go", it is based on fiction, not fact, Mortals and spirits not in light made it up for humans to swallow and they did so, and now ancient Gods, and mortals who got themselves involved in the lie for their very own power, are going to have to go back and pay those whom they influenced to believe something not true, to realize it was an effort and a snare based on lies.

The trinity doctrine does not plague Christianity.
It plagues christendom.
There is a huge gulf between the two!

Cause the Bible teaches this doctrine ... which is hardly a plague.
Deut 29:29 "The secret things belong to the Lord"
I don't expect to understand the trinity until the "other side".

youre wrong its the lies that hurt
SEE MATT 28:19 commanded to say that for baptism
<<<
Matt 28v19 says;
Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the NAME of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:
It does not say names. . . name is singular. Or ONE. If you don't know his NAME, how then do you baptize?
There are many other verses in the NT that talk about this.
Here is a good one.
I Cor. 1v13
Is Christ divided? was Paul crucified for you? or were ye baptized in the name of Paul?
The answer is no. Many times in the NT does it say to be baptized in the Name of Jesus.
The word "Divided" in the verse above is originated Greek-Hebrew Merizo. Definition below.
Merizo: 3307 merivzw Merizo (mer-id'-zo);
Word Origin: Greek, Verb
from (3313)
to divide
to separate into parts, cut into pieces
to divide into parties, i.e. be split into factions

The Holy Spirit, Jesus and God the Father are all referenced many times in the New Testament. There's no statement of the doctrine formally, but from the bible references you can see that each is to be regarded as God.

It is essential to Christianity. If you are looking for a "religion" that does not include love, unity, perfect fellowship displayed by the Trinity--than you will have to look elsewhere rather than trying to change God.

Because there is no logical explaination for it. No church leader can explain in an understanding way just how three people can be one, or how one person can be three.
Who can understand how a person can be his own father.
Has any church official ever explained why the church claims one God in three persons ? The plural of person is people, not persons. The preamble does not say, " We the persons ". Lincoln did not say, " Of the persons, by the persons and for the persons ". So what is the church trying to hide ?

There is no plague, and it is clearly a concept accepted and expounded not only by the followers of Christ, but by Jesus himself. You might also want to refer to Genesis 1.

Because biblical literalists have to reconcile the various god references.
Realistically it shouldn't make a difference.
Then again, realistically, the whole fairy tale is ridiculous and the trinity isn't even in the top ten list of absurd concepts.

Josephus outlined and tried to describe this mystery - he was a Jewish Pharisee. It is/was not a Christian doctrine alone -
Christianity is not, or should not be, concerned with being socially popular.
