I'm an atheist and I think most christians are a tad delusional (sorry if that offends but you asked for opinions) and mormons go a step beyond that.

I mean, have you READ this Joseph Smith' guy?

Magical addition to the bible on gold plates? That nobody has ever seen? Translated with magical stones, also gone? With wars and white people in America while that is provably false?

As individuals they are as varied as everyone else. In the religious sense, I admire LDS members that really live according to LDS teachings.

I live in a Caribbean island, where the Church is growing fast. I have seen the beautiful Temple of Santo Domingo. The view of the many people in this Country is that Mormons are CIA agents, (which of course is not true, but it is kind of fun to hear the people saying that kids of 18 to 22 years of age are spies).

I used to be an LDS member, and still have many friends in the Church, not only in the US and the Caribbean, but in many countries around the world.

Same as anyone else. I don't care for the door to door stuff. I understand the reason behind it, I am myself a Christian.
I do believe, however, that like ANYONE should, a Mormon ought to seriously take the time and put forth the effort to truly dig into the beliefs of their denom., and the history of the same, but especially into the Christian Bible, in order to compare what they've been TOLD to believe to what the truth may be that they find out.

I have known many mormons in my life, and they have all been super sweet people. I honestly cannot think of a single bad thing about them. While I do not believe in any religion, the mormons I've met sure do represent their faith well.

My wife's parents were Mormons. Strange beliefs and customs. But they were always nice to me and never tried to convert me in any way. Best part....good family values. Worst part...missionaries and all the secrecy of the temple.

That they are in a pre-salvation state. In that they haven't confessed Jesus Christ their Lord & Savior (believing the blood of the Lamb cleanses them from their sins, making them the righteousness of Christ) and believing in their heart He raised from the dead for us. That at the moment of spiritual birth (born again) person is made the righteousness of Christ and nothing they do can make them more or less righteous in the eyes of God.

They don't believe that everlasting life is a free gift of God, but that everlasting life is provided for them if they do the things necessary in the Mormon church. The problem is that if they don't get born again, by believing His atonement is sufficient & free. Not of works lest anyone boast. (Though the act of faith in Jesus Christ is an act of faith to receive Gods Saving Grace.) But that isn't doing something to make self righteous enouph. No one can be righteous enouph in themself. Only Jesus Christ is Righteous for us.

Jesus said that to see the Kingdom of God, you must be born again. So, if one isn't born of God, one will not go to heaven.

My mother in law is Mormon, I'm pagan. I love her to death. I just don't like the mormon belief that being black is a punishment from God (one my MIL doesn't share thank God).

I am from Vermont. Joseph Smith was not well liked here. I hope you are happy in Utah.

Some of my family is LDS, some Catholic, some Protestant... I have no problem with any of those so long as they don't try to convert me. I actually use the LDS Family History Centers quite a bit.

i admire thier family and work ethic in general. But have no desire to be apart of it so when they try to convert me, I have a problem with that just as I do with any other "religion" that does that.
