A man has a chicken a fox and a bag of seeds, he needs to cross the river in his boat.
He can only take one thing at a time.
if he leaves the chicken and the fox, then the fox will eat the chicken, and if he leaves the chicken with the seed the chicken will eat the seed.
How does he get a round this problem.

Dont bother with the boat.

Put gags on the fox and the chicken so they cant eat anything, then just catapult all three over the river.

Take the chicken 1st
Then go back and get the seeds
To stop the chicken eating the seeds when you go for the fox, you need to take the chicken back across.
Then swap chicken for the fox and leave the fox with the seed and go back for the chicken.

Ideally he should sell the chicken, fox and seed and buy a bigger boat for future trips!!!

this is what I would do

take over the chicken, leaving the fox with the seed. Go back and take over the fox, dump the fox and take back the chicken. Swap the chicken with the seed. Take over the seed. Go back and get the chicken.
I'm sure that's not the right answer but it would work !

He makes four trips.........................
First the farmer takes the chicken across, leaving the fox and the seed safely alone. Next, he comes back and carries the fox across (this can also work with the seed next), but when he drops the fox off he carries the chicken back over the river to the other (original) side, and leaves it there while he carries the seed across and leaves it safely with the fox. He then goes back across, gets the chicken, and carries it over.!!!

First he should take the chicken over to the other side and then go back for the seed, when he take the seed over to the other side carry the chicken back over with him to the original side, when he gets back to the original side leave the chicken and carry the fox to the other side and that than go back for the chicken.

Takes the chicken, leaving fox and seeds, comes back and picks up the fox. Takes that across, drops it off and picks the chicken up. Goes back over, drops the chicken off and picks up the seeds, takes them over, comes back and collects the, now very confused and travel sick chicken!

He first takes the chick (leaving fox and seed). leaves the chick on the other side. Then goes back empty handed. Takes the seeds (leaving the fox behind). Leaves the seeds and picks up the chick and goes back with it. Leaves the chick and takes the fox (leaving the chick which he brought back) Puts the fox on the other side with the seeds. Goes back empty handed for the seeds and finally he crosses the river

Chicken first, come back take fox, take chicken back, pick up seed , come back for chicken, job done!

Either that, empty out the seed and put chicken int the bag, and take all together...
