Just right: dog has a visible "waist" when viewed from above, ribs are easily felt under a thin layer of fat.

dogs should not be 'chunky'. even bulldogs should be lean, not fat. talk with your vet about assessing a dog's body condition so that you can evaluate your dog's real condition.
