Because it's not fiction. Leaving out the religious aspects of the argument, much of the Bible has been proven to be historically accurate. And if you think the Bible should be in the fiction section, then so should every other religious doctrinal work (including the satanic bible.)

It already is. Stores usually don't add fiction after the section name (other than science fiction). The religion section is fiction. It may have once been based on fact but has evolved into a series of fictional stories.

it's for the same reason lots of books mention Santa Claus but are still in the Non-Fiction section.
It's just a non-fiction account of what some crazies believe to be true. Kind of like how you can quote a schizophrenic without being crazy yourself.

Archaeology has validated many Biblical specifics. Luke is considered an excellent historian.
I was an out-and-out skeptic until I came to realize that the resurrection really happened.
