Started a new fitness regime, to tone up for my wedding... But I am ruining all my hard work by eating loads of peanuts - I really love them!...

Are they good or bad for you?

I have read some of the other answers and some of them are ridiculas. Peanuts are good for you as long as you don`t have too much of them. They are high in fat, but its mostly good fat - monosaturated and polysaturated. They are high in salt, but you can get unsalted ones which have very low levels of salt. They have vitamin b3, they are a source of fibre and good protein. They are also have a low gi - slow releasing. Keeping your blood sugar levels even, making you less tired and keeping you fuller for longer, so you don`t feel hungury again so soon. Unsalted peanuts are good for you. Don`t have too much though.

All things in moderation, of course. Peanuts are very high-calorie due to high fat content. They are also often heavily salted which could contribute to water weight gain, but the overriding problem is the caloric content.

Of course the other problem is that they taste great and are hard to quit.

Peanuts also have protein and vitamins and healthy oils, so they are not all bad.

If you are eating "loads" of peanuts, losing weight would be virtually impossible unless you are running half-marathons every day.

Try substituting a bit of fruit or vegetable for the peanuts.

Congrats on the wedding and fitness regime!

Peanuts are good in their right proportion.
To many of them will make you gain weight-
Some of them are a good sorce of protein.

So have some.

PS. Stay with your fitness program even after the wedding!

Bad, Walnuts are a bit better. Peanuts won't raise your cholestral but will make you gain weight I'm afraid(unless you are only talking about a few nuts a day. Weight loss is relative!)

Bit of a mixed bag. Loads of calories- 600 in 100g, which you can toss back in about a minute!

Total fat a bit high, but only small amounts of saturates, not much in the way of vitamins, add the salt and it goes down hill even faster.

A small handfull of natural nuts are ok, but if you are talking about the KP roasted or salted nuts you wont be getting in your dress! Wait till after the wedding then pig out.

Try eating Almonds they are really good and drink water it will cure hunger. If not just eat spareingly cause always too much of one thing is not good for ya. Eat a little bit at a time not the whole jar.

Peanuts are high in fat, but they are good for you provided they are not covered with oil, salt or sugar.

Peanut oil is one of the best oils for your body (unsaturated!) and they contain excellent protein. I would suggest that a handful a day is healthy, more than that, unhealthy.

Beware of peanut butter with palm oil or hydrogenated vegetable oil in them. This is undoing all the good work of the peanut oil, but it is hard to find peanut butter without them in the UK.
