There was a Muslim scholar on the tv who said that there was an experiment in Europe where the scientists brought two groups of people who do not understand Arabic. One group listened to the Quran (which they did not understand) and the other group listened to music. The man said that after one week, the group who listened to the Quran showed improvement in their mood and stress-relief more than the other group who listened to music.

I tried many times to contact that scholar to get more information about that experiment, but I had no luck.

Does anyone have any information about that study?

no... you usually cant trust religious people when it comes to scientific experimentation because true scientific experiments are not objective, while religious experiments are objective. meaning they are done with the intent of proving something true.

Look up "placebo effect" and you will get the idea. There is a pretty strong healing effect from anything the person thinks will work, rather it does or not.

If you set up the experiment in such a way that people thought it was going to work better, it would.

Yes it is true.
Lots of experiments have been done. For instance along time ago when I was a teenager there was an experiment where they had the same kind of stone. The microscopic view of the stones before exposing them to anything were the same.
They exposed one to the sound of Quran.
One to the sound of Classical music.
One to the sound of everyday music.
The effects that the sound had on the stone were very shocking. The everyday music made the particles in the stone so unsmooth. The Classical music was better but not as smooth as the stone that was exposed to the sound of Quran.

Hope this helped :)

I guess by them not understanding, you mean in a different language? I think if you meditate to any jibberish, you would probably be more relaxed as you would not have to contend with adrenaline or mood as you would with music. And what kind of music was used in the study?

All chants are soothing and calming. Most ancient religions use chants as a way of self refelction. I don't doubt that it did helped people.

I have access to all medical journals. This topic is not in any medical journal that I can find. I used "Quran" and "Qu'ran" as my search keyword. Nothing has been published in a medical journal about this.

This sounds believable.

Wasn't the scholar beheaded for reading the korin to infidels? And for playing music?

Weren't all the participants beheaded for not converting to islim?

Aren't you going to be beheaded for not remembering the name of the scholar?

FYI: how exactly does one become a muslam scholar? Besides, you know, just reading and thinking a lot? Because Manson and Koresh did that, and NO ONE would call THEM scholars.

I cannot find the specifics on the test but have you ever had to listen to Arabic for a long period of time? in Iraq they play the daily prayers on loud speakers and it was agonizing. to each his own.
