I was wondering if Turbo yeast is any better than just regular Fleishmans bread yeast...I am trying for clear, hi-test stuff...strictly for fuel...drinking it would be illegal, of course.

Any other fermenting tips would be nice.

Just because you say it's for fuel, doesn't mean the feds aren't still watching. You still need a permit for making fuel or they'll come after you.

That said, if you're after some jet fuel, baking yeast is the cheapest to use in bulk...if you're using 3L of water, then you're not going to get enough fuel for a model car...or a hangover.

If you're still game, try http://homedistiller.org for all the technical details from the ground up.

RE:
What type of yeast is best for home brewing/distilling of alcohol? How much is needed if 3L water, 1 kg sugar?

It is make alcohol sure enough. It is drinkable I guess I too have never drank this stuff. Boil it to best dissolve the sugar and to sanitize the mix. Use about 1# sugar to a gallon but this can be altered up or down as you see fit. In a general sense more sugar does = more but only to a certain degree. Too much sugar will render the mix unfermentable by the yeast. Repeat as much as two more times. Nothing lasts forever. -B

Turbo Yeast is the way to go, but you'll still have to distill it and that's where it's illegal.
