I'm looking for something durable, but easy to install myself, unlike tile.

they have pieces of marbel looking material i forget the name .its a synthetic so its cheap and its only one piece so its easy to install. your home depot or lowes will have what your lookin 4.

Ikea makes stainless steel panels / backsplash - you can even mount rail systems to/through them. They're inexpensive and bada$$ looking.

ummm tuff question. ummm I'm only used to countertops that come with backsplash. but if you looking for a wall covering you can always yous gloss paint and usually that wipes off pretty easly if you add more then one cout

lowes has plastic pieces that are supposed to be used for tub surrounds could easily be cut to whatever size u needed and tacked in place with small screws
