There are four ways to reduce friction between two surfaces.
1. Lubrication. Oil is typically used for metal, but water is also used on many other surfaces
2. Material. The contacting surfaces can be made of a different material that has a lower co-efficient of friction. Plastics like Nylon and PTFE are sometimes used. Think of the non-stick coating on pans for example.
3. Finish. The finish on the material will make a big difference also. At it's most basic, this is polishing metal or sanding wood.
4. Reduce the surface area in contact. This is why hydrofoils can sail so fast, because most of the hull gets lifted out of the water and so there is less surface area of the hull in contact with the water, reducing drag.

If you just want to do tests for a school project for studying the 3 newton laws without friction I suggest using:
dry ice (solid CO2) over glass or a mirror.
The CO2 will start sublimate and a very thin layer of gas will keep the dry ice piece "levitating" over the glass or mirror, that it's itself very smooth
so you will have only the friction from the air to consider for your calculations.

3. Eliminate some of the items in contact. Think along the lines of the air track used in physics' class to get a near frictionless surface.

Polish the two surfaces so that they are smooth, put ball bearing in-between, or use a slippery liquid to lubricate moving parts.

In addition to what "scientific_boy3434" said, you can use an air hockey table (air bearings ) to achieve a similar effect as dry ice and a mirror.
