I am getting married on july 7th by Justice of the piece. Please tell me your thoughts on my party and dinner ideas.I plan to invite our family which includes parents, brothers, their children, uncles, aunts and cousins to a dinner on the 6th because the 7th is booked everywhere!!but of course I still want to celebrate with my fam.The next day we'll get married in the morning and I was thinking of having a "party" at night for my friends, the homies you know the co-workers and neighbors.Does it seem a little rude or impolite to do it this way?For one I'm on a budget and two some of my family members are a bit reserved and somewaht judgemental and though I know the Party will be awesome I for sure don't want them to say "Oh my gawd, look at them, ugh!" Nice dinner for family, Party for friends what do you guys think?Rude?impolite?great idea?let me know thanx.I wouldn't want anyone to think that they're not important enough to entertain! It's more affordable for me to do it this way

it is your wedding and you know your family. do it your way and don't worry about it I know someone who did it that way and they liked it just fine. they had more fun with their family and friends separated.

I think that is a great idea. If anyone asks, just explain to them that you know them well enough to know that they won't feel comfortable in A) a stuffy get-together or B) a party with people that can get a bit too crazy....I am not saying that is how it will be. You just will want to get the message across loud and clear that you did it for them. However, I don't think anybody will even ask. It truly is a great idea, though.

Since you are not having a traditional wedding, and since it is your big day, sure you can. The family doesn't have to know about the party, and if they do, just tell them someone else was hosting it at your place. If you want to get together with family, maybe Mom should fix a dinner and invite those who might feel left out. If not, then don't worry about it. Do what you want to do and have a wonderful day in your new life. Best wishes!

you know whats best when it comes to the family, I think your idea is very good, you still are having a party for them and including them in you special day. When I move into my new home we have to have 3 different house warming parties to accommodate family and friends.
sometimes it just how it has to be.
I am glad that it wont cause you extra financial strain.

I actually think that's a great idea!!!! Just make sure if you have any close cousins that they overlap, but know they are not obligated to do both!
