HI guys, I have the diagram in the link below, and I was wondering how would I do the following calculations?! In the figure shown, would there be any other stresses other than bending stress due to moment? I know there would be shear, but how would I calculate that? Also in the position (12-6 o'clock) there wold be no torsion, right?

Thanks!!

you would use L2 as the lever arm, as for shear in L1 there is no shear in L1. But if you are referring to the shear between L1 and whatever L1 is connected to at O the shear is simply the force applied at the end of L2. When the pedal is moved to the 6 o'clock position nothing changes except the direction of the moment experienced in L1. The moment at O however is still the same.
