I have an 06 Sel, FWD. When I turn the wheel, usually when I'm backing out of a parking spot or making a sharp turn it makes a sound in the front end. My friends explorer did the same thing and the dealer could not find anything wrong. Whats the problem?

It's like a clanking or popping sound.

The noise you are hearing is coming from the steering stops. There is a TSB on this thumping sound. Call your local dealer To get the steering stops lubed!

This will fix the problem! I had the same problem!

Take it in under warranty. It is in the power steering pump or a pulley is slipping. Or your CV joints.

if you drove over bad potholes, you could have damaged your ball joints. check your whole steering column.
