I think that I have developed an intestinal ulcer, or something else nasty from taking Mefenamic Acid as prescribed by my doctor. I have stopped taking it and made an appointment, but I am wondering what they would do to treat it anyway? Would it clear up on its own? Should I be doing/eating anything to help the healing?

I have blood and mucus in my stool, but am feeling totally fine otherwise.

How did you come to the wise conclusion that you have an intestinal ulcer? Acid induced ulcers are in general present in the stomach as it is the first part of the digestive tract which is attacked. Have you had Xrays, ecography tomography????
Treatment depends on the severity of the ulcer. If the wall is perforated (a very serious condition, which you would have noted due to blood in your stool) the only solution is immediate surgical resection. If not: STRICT diet and anti acid medication. And get rid of stress.

There are other reasons for your symptoms besides an ulcer. It's unlikely that you would have fresh blood in the stool from either a gastric or duodenal ulcer but obviously something is going on. It's okay to have suspicions but don't attempt to diagnose yourself. Report this to your doctor.

Let the doctor see you first and then decide what is to be done. It may not be an ulcer but could be something else.

Omeprazole will stop so much acid being prduced in your stomach, but I would definitely speak to your doctor about this, it could be serious. You could have something like Chrone's disease or something. Please seek help ASAP. I wouldn't eat too much roughage at the moment.
